Sourdough Starter
Ingredients:
1 tsp. yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3/4 cup milk, at room temperature
1 cup flour
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water, let stand 5 minutes. Add milk and flour. Mix well.
2. Place in large glass jar or metal bowl. Cover with cheesecloth or plastic wrap and let stand in a warm place free from drafts for 72 hours, stirring 2 or 3 times daily.
3. Use within 11 days or store in refrigeraetor.
4. To use, remove starter from refrigerator. Stir well and meausre amount needed for recipe. (It is best to let starter stand at room temp for at least 1 hour before using)
5. Replenish remianing starter with starter food; cover and return to refrigerator.
Starter Food:
Equal amounts of milk and flour (you may add more or less depending on how much you want to have).
